چکیده
Abst rac t -The continuum constitutive modeling for rate-dependent fracture of brittle microcracking solids, which was described in Part 1 of this paper, is applied to the finite element analysis of stationary and nonstationary macrocracks in a single-edge-notched three-point bend specimen under a static loading. The microcrack damage zones near the macro-crack-tip can be classified as being "large-scale." The microcrack toughening effect in stationary cracks is observed through the behavior of the crack tip energy-flux parameter, the T*-integral. The numerical results of the nonstationary crack analysis are compared with the available experimental results for a silicon carbide specimen.

Precisely describing the formation and evolution rules of coal-rock fracturing crack have great value on reservoir fracturing improvement and highly efficient mining of coal bed methane well. In this paper, a non-linear dynamic method is used to study crack damage evolution behavior of coal-rock fracturing. In this paper, we investigate the effects of the non-singular stress (T stress) on the mode I near-tip fields lbr elastic perfectly plastic pressure-sensitive materials under plane-stress and small-scale yielding conditions. The T stress is the normal stress parallel to the crack faces. The yield criterion for pressure-sensitive materials is described by a linear combination of the effective st...
متن کاملCrack shielding and material deterioration in damaged materials: an antiplane shear fracture problem
A simple damage evolution model is proposed for a quasibrittle material in the framework of continuum damage mechanics. The model is used to obtain a closed form solution for a mode-III stationary crack under small scale damage conditions. It is found that the crack tip stress intensity factor is reduced, i.e., the crack is shielded by the damage. However, this shielding effect is completely of...
متن کاملModelling of Crack Growth Using a New Fracture Criteria Based Peridynamics
Peridynamics (PD) is a nonlocal continuum theory based on integro-differential equations without spatial derivatives. The elongation fracture criterion is implicitly incorporated in the PD theory, and fracture is a natural outcome of the simulation. On the other hand, a new fracture criterion based on the crack opening displacement combined with peridynamic (PD-COD) is proposed. When the relati...

In this paper, a two-dimensional computational model is proposed for predicting the initiation position and propagation path of subsurface crack of spur gear tooth flank. In order to simulate the contact of teeth, an equivalent model of two contacting cylinders is used. The problem is assumed to be under linear elastic fracture mechanic conditions and finite element method is used for numerical...
